Formed in Russia back in 2005 principally by Roman, and then moved to Norway (Oslo), Bizarrekult melts the best (or the worst) of both worlds, the decadence and grayness of Russia, with the rawness and grimness of Norway.
Starting back at 2006 with the demo “Bizarrekult” and then move forward with a split (with Theosophy) (2008) and an EP “Join The Kult!!!” (2019), they delivered their first album, “Vi Overlevde” (2021) with which they caught some attention from the Black Metal scene worldwide, and to be honest confusing many fans with that atmospheric sound but with the fierce of Norwegian Black Metal.
It was until 2023 with “Den Tapte Krigen” (2023) and many singles between when they got signed by mighty French label Season Of Mist, particularly by its subsidiary Season Of Mist Underground Activists, in that moment the force that is Bizarrekult was spawned to the world, was the secretion overflowing from the bizarre union between Russia and Norway.

“Alt Som Finnes” it is the most recent album from Bizarrekult, freshly unleashed on February 20th, 2026; “Alt Som Finnes” moves one step toward the brutality and the traditional riffs of Norwegian Black Metal but always keeping within the layers those Russian mystical and atmospheric passages.
“Alt Som Finnes” is composed by 8 tracks, perfectly curated, with an easy-to-understand structure and a natural coherence between them; the composition has turned more complex and exigent, trying to step aside from nowadays Black Metal bands by developing some unique and original.

——————————————INTERVIEW———————————————
Hi Roman, how are you? Thank you for having me in this interview for The Black Shrine.
“Pretty fine, thanks for asking, hope you are doing good too.”.
Been following Bizarrekult from some years now, at the beginning with some vague listening of the first album “Vi Overlevde” and then you got my total attention when SOM signed you with “Den Tapte Krigen”, tell me, how do you see your evolution as a musician across this almost 7 years?
“It has been interesting, a very dark and outstanding path, I still recall when I was living in Russia and then taking the decision to move to Norway and all the changes arisen from this migration.
Musically, I think I have developed some expertise, trying to mix and melt both musical influences that live within me, in the first years, the atmospheric essence was more present, it is part of my roots.”.

Talking about your roots, how does Bizarrekult have been conceived?
“Back in 2005, after several tries in a few bands I decided to start my own project, the name was quite easy, I used the alias of “Bizarre” back then, so it was just logic to put that name to my new project.”.
Bizarrekult is a project with many years behind, but it has had some stand-by moments, how has been the trip for Bizarrekult?
“In the very first years I was not so active, a couple of demos here and there, then I moved to Norway, got some line-up in Bergen, but nothing very concrete. So, the time moved like a blink and ten years have passed; to be honest, it has been until the first album back in 2021 when Bizarrekult did got a body to live in.”.
As you previously mentioned, some musical vibes and influences have been a very important part of your life as a musician, and the previous albums of Bizarrekult have had a more intense and atmospheric touch, however, when listening “Alt Som Finnes” it sounds different, more Black Metal to say so, what could you tell us about this new opus?
“Indeed, “Alt Som Finnes” sounds more like traditional Black Metal, less atmospheres; quite a lot faster tracks, cool riffs, and the vocals have been something else. I think that in this most recent album I have been more in touch with the Norwegian Black Metal vibes.”.

“Alt Som Finnes” got some guest vocalists, from Lina (Predatory Void), going through Kim Song Sternkopf (Møl) and reaching the crazy Yusaf “Victonik” Parvez (Dødheimsgard), how was the approach?
“First of all there is a mutual respect from each other, and I really love and enjoy the work they do with their respective projects; in the case of Yusaf and Kim I have met them personally a couple of times and I can say we have a good relationship; for Lina, the contact has been purely online, but also, with a lot of respect.
The main reason of looking for these guest vocalists is because I was trying to portray some feelings in my music, and I wanted to know if some others could feel the same as me.”.
You hit the nail; talking about feelings I perceived this album as something very personal, like a very introspective album, how was the composition?
“Yes, it is true, I always try to compose and express what I am feeling and living in the nowadays, and with “Alt Som Finnes” the things were changing in my personal surroundings, so I transmit these feelings in the composition.
When composing I always try to be so easy-going, not forcing anything or trying to follow an alien agenda, just my own agenda and my own wishes.”.
We are almost at the end of this interview, and I would like to ask you something special; imagine that you are going to meet a person that has never listened to Bizarrekult or any kind of rock or metal music, how would you describe Bizarrekult only using words without any musical reference?
“Woow, that is a big question and a hard one; but I may say that Bizarrekult is that grim landscape that you fear and love when walking within and throughout the woods in a snowy day.”.

Thanks so much! That was a particularly conclusive answer; so, tell me which are your plans for touring with “Alt Som Finnes”?
“Right now, we have booked two festivals, Inferno in Norway and Summer Breeze in Germany, I hope some others will be added as soon as possible, and I hope to get the chance to reach out Mexico sometime soon.”.
Thank you so much for your time, I hope you have enjoyed the interview and hope to see you soon.
“Thanks to you, I really enjoyed the interview and so interesting questions, really appreciate your support.”.
