About

The Black Shrine stems from necessity of unveiling a proper place to share reviews, interviews, and part of my record collection, all of them devoted to Black Metal (and maybe some other musical sins).

After working (and still working) with several online zines and printed magazines I noticed that sometimes the music I was into, or well the music that has reached me out, was not on the same agenda of the media I am collaborating with. Maybe because of the content, or not enough relevance.

Throughout these virtual parchments you will find several interviews I have done along (almost) 20 years, not all of them could be -properly- named “interviews”, but anecdotes; so you will find some of these experiences from bands as Carpathian Forest, Dissection, Behemoth, Gorgoroth, Turisas, Trolffest, Marduk/Abruptum, Aura Noir, Mayhem, Mörk Gryning, Satyricon, Taake, Urgehal, Nocturnal Depression, Enslaved, Hypothermia, Horna, to name a few. And of course I am still constantly doing interviews, so I will share all of them through this vessel.

Also, for some years now I have been actively collaborating with several labels in the metal scene, such as Season Of Mist, Nuclear Blast, Prophecy Productions, Century Media, World Terror Committee, Debemur Morti Records, Peaceville Records, Soulseller Records, Avantgarde Music, Svart Records, and others more. So derived from these collaborations I have been able to get some physical and digital promos and that has taken me to write some reviews, so here you will find some of them. Then, I am still receiving those promos so I will be posting reviews from upcoming albums.

Having physical copies of the music I adore has been something really important for me, so I have been an avid collector for the last 20 years and an active one from almost 30 years; this leads me to the idea of sharing my collection, taking special attention to the details of each record with some visual support which you may explore and enjoy through social media outputs as Instagram, Facebook or TikTok.

Last but not least, what would music be like without a proper image? Especially Black Metal is a genre that needs to have a proper visual representation (even not having one perse is a visual representation too), so, besides the interviews and reviews I have also had the opportunity to cover and live in flesh some rituals in Mexico and in several countries as the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and England principally; and as true believer and fervent devotee I have been able to create some icons, some windows to heaven that may be the jewels of this crown of thorns.

So, join me into this void where darkness IT shall be.
